Getting hands-on experience through QUIP

Students can test-drive their careers and learn more about themselves and the world they want to work in.

Our students go out on 12 to 16-month internships and return with a wealth of experiences that enrich and transform their final year. Through the Queens Undergraduate Internship Program and ongoing partnerships with employers, Queen's engineering students are job-ready during and after they graduate.

Rylan takes us on a site tour at the New Queen's Residence on Albert Street where he worked as a project coordinator

“For any students considering an internship with QUIP, I would highly recommend it. I've had a great experience working here, and I couldn't recommend it enough. I think the experience is invaluable, graduating with 12-16 months of actual professional experience, and I couldn't imagine graduating without it now.” Rylan Richter

Charles Hunter, worked at SnapCab, a local employer in Kingston. He shares his what he enjoyed about his internship in this video.

“As an intern, you’re going in to see what you want and what your career prospects are. By getting exposed to all these different pieces, you get a little peek into what you like and don’t like doing, which I think is really valuable information when you’re looking for something to do for the rest of your life.” Charles Hunter

Elaine Monteiro, shares her 16-month internship experience at Procter and Gamble

“At P&G, I was challenged with exciting and impactful projects. Being an intern during a global pandemic was a unique experience, and I am grateful to the incredible people I worked with, who made my internship so meaningful. I learned so much more than I could've imagined!” Elaine Monteiro

Shayla talks about Queen’s Client Design project courses and professional experience.

“Queen's engineering and career services provide a supportive community that enhances opportunities for students. I was one of the first three interns to go to IFS Aerospace and the skills I'd learned through the Applied Sciences Courses (APSC 200); professional, team building, problem-solving and the design process made me stand out during my internship at IFS Aerospace.” Shayla Klinger
