Congratulations to the four Chemical Engineering graduate students that were awarded this years’ Dean’s Teaching Assistant Award! This annual award recognizes exceptional Teaching Assistants across the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science who have been nominated by their departments.

In addition, congratulations to Jakob Straznicky who also recently received this year’s Education Catalyst Award, which recognizes the excellent skills of a teaching assistant in the Chemical Engineering Department. This award recognizes an individual who best combines the ability to effectively communicate ideas, willingness to help students, knowledge of course material and ability to answer questions effectively. Nominees for the award are selected by undergraduate students. Jakob was a teaching assistant this year for CHEE 209 “Analysis of Process Data” and CHEE 222 “Process Dynamics & Numerical Methods.” Undergraduate students indicated how well he explained concepts, an eagerness to help, and an appreciation for the additional tips and advice around assignments, tutorials and concepts.
