Currently, the fastest charging stations for EV batteries require at least half an hour for a full recharge, and there simply aren’t enough of them easily available for drivers. Unless affordable, efficient and sufficient battery charging technologies are developed, EVs will not be adopted, deployed and utilized to full advantage.
Dr. Eren and her team at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario are developing a high efficiency charger that increases the speed of recharging, limits energy losses and reduces electricity consumption. The overall savings and wide availability of quick and easy charging will help EVs become an affordable mainstream transportation option for Canadians.
