Herbert “Barry” Robins, of New City passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at the age of 83.

He was born on Jan 19, 1941 in Portsmouth, Ontario Canada. He was the first in his family to go to university. He graduated with a BSc in Chemical Engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Soon afterwards he married Jane (Tetzlaff) Robins and they immigrated to the USA and eventually landed in New City. He started his own company, Davos Chemical, which is currently being run by his sons, David and Brian.

He was passionate about baseball, ice hockey and golf. When he couldn’t play, he would coach. He was well remembered for getting the local kids who came from difficult family backgrounds into ice hockey. If they could not afford equipment, he would buy it. If they couldn’t get to the games or practice, he would give them a ride. He will be remembered for his caring and generosity to everyone in the community.

He always appreciated the opportunity that Queen’s gave him and was passionate in giving back. His time at Queen’s laid the foundation for a belief in the transformative power of education and hard work.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, his sons and daughter in-laws, David and Pia and Brian and Andrea, and his grandchildren, Timo, Riku, Tea, Brynne, and Avery, and his sister, Helen Gail Gray.

The family will be holding a celebration of life service at 11 AM on Saturday, November 2 at Risen King, 190 New Hempstead Road, New City, NY 10956. And for anyone that wants to attend they will be having a buffet at Rockland Country Club at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for attendees to bring a memory they have (picture, note, anything) of Barry.
