MME Graduate Courses for the 2023-2024 Academic Session

Students choose courses during September, January or May before each semester begins. For example, if your admission is September - then you begin choosing and registering for classes in late August/early September.

Graduate students in our department cannot use the cart in SOLUS to register in classes. 4th year undergrad courses are limited because undergrad students often receive first priority for registration.

To register for graduate courses, you may need permission from the course instructor and your supervisor. All course registrations require you to complete the SGS_Academic_Change_Form and submit to the Graduate Assistant at mme.graduate@queensu.ca.

Couse descriptions for Mechanical and Materials Engineering graduate courses can be found on the School of Graduate Studies Academic Calendar.

Important Notes:

Not all courses are offered due to interest and instructor availability. Please confirm with the Graduate Assistant.

MECH 840, 842, 843, and 844 are "topics" courses. These courses require the student to find a professor to supervise them during the semester, in addition to submitting a Study Plan which is to be agreed upon by the Professor/Supervisor, Graduate Coord., and the student prior to registration. These courses are best taken during Summer term (May-Aug.) when course choices are limited. An example would be an independent study.

MME Graduate Students have the opportunity to take relevant RMC Courses as part of your graduate studies, however, you need approval from your Supervisor or the MEng Coordinator as well as to complete the RMC course registration form.

If you have been approved by your Supervisor or MEng Coord to take a course at RMC, please see the graduate advisor for the application form and more details. These courses are NOT ADDED using the Queen's registration form. RMC courses will appear on the transcript as a transfer credit only "TR" (3.0 units). The course title will not be listed. This will not show on SOLUS until after the course is successfully completed.
