Michael Korenberg received the BSc, MSc (Mathematics), and PhD (Electrical Engineering) degrees from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. He has been on Faculty at Queen's University since 1983, and is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Korenberg's research interests include development of practical methods for representing/identifying nonlinear systems of unknown structure and for time-series analysis. Applications relate to communications, to modelling of physical and physiological processes, and to computational biology and bioinformatics. The latter applications include protein sequence classification, gene recognition, and interpretation of microarray data. For example, he has shown how nonlinear system identification techniques, such as parallel cascade identification, can be used to automatically classify protein sequences into structure or function families.
