Dr. Farzaneh Sadri is an Assistant Professor in the Robert M. Buchan Department of Mining Engineering at Queen’s University. Previously, she held the position of Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Alberta from September 2022 to October 2023. Before her tenure at the University of Alberta, Dr. Sadri served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Acting Supervisor at the Hydrometallurgy and Environment Group at Queen’s University Kingston. During this period, she conducted extensive research on various hydrometallurgical projects.

In October 2023, Dr. Sadri joined the Mining Department at Queen’s University, where she embarked on establishing her Hydrometallurgy Research Group. Her vision is to create a central hub for cutting-edge research in the field, focusing on the chemical extraction, separation, and purification of critical metals and advancing knowledge in hydrometallurgy.

Dr. Sadri's research group is dedicated to projects centered around hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, the environment, and natural resources, with a particular emphasis on the chemical extraction and separation of critical metals. The primary objective of the research group is to investigate the recovery of valuable metals from ores, concentrates, and secondary sources like industrial process residues and end-of-life products. The central focus of the research within this group is to enhance fundamental knowledge in hydrometallurgical processes, ultimately contributing to the development of more sustainable methods for extracting and recovering critical and precious metals from resource materials.
