BIPoC Counselling Services

Saranya has recently joined the Smith Engineering Student Services team to provide additional counselling services to our BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) Smith Engineering students.

A little about Saranya:

As a BIPoC support counsellor, Saranya approaches therapy with a foundation of cultural humility, recognizing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of each individual she works with. Through an intersectional lens, Saranya strives to understand how various aspects of identity intersect and influence one's mental health. Her practice is deeply rooted in an empathic person-centered approach, where the student’s unique needs, values, and perspectives guide the therapeutic process. Utilizing an integrative clinical model of care, Saranya draws from various therapeutic modalities to tailor care to each student’s specific needs and goals.

BIPoC Counselling Services:

Imagine a safe space where you're encouraged to be your authentic self, where your cultural identity is celebrated, and where your mental health journey is met with understanding and compassion. That’s what we’re all about!

Whether you're feeling stressed about exams, navigating relationships, or simply need someone to chat with over a virtual cup of chai or coffee, Saranya is here to listen, support, and cheer you on every step of the way.

If you identify as a racialized student seeking counselling support, please book an appointment below.

***PLEASE NOTE: Saranya sees students for in-person sessions in BMH 300 in Student Services on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and sees students in Mitchell Hall in the main SWS office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.***
