The Civil Society provides academic resources, including tutoring services. Second and third-year students can receive help from upper-year students who excelled in a specific course. We also organize an AutoCAD workshop to help students with the necessary skills needed for any junior engineering position.
The Civil Society is affiliated with the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. This partnership gives students the opportunity to be nationally recognized for undergraduate research. The partnership also allows students to attend many of the organization's conferences and network with industry partners.
The Queen's Concrete Canoe Team is a design team that competes with other Canadian universities in the annual Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition. Team members use skills they learned in class and creative solutions to design and build a canoe made of concrete.
The Concrete Toboggan Team designs and builds a concrete toboggan every year to compete in one of the largest engineering competitions in Canada- the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. Teams are judged on their concrete mix, toboggan designs, speed, stopping distance, team spirit, technical presentation, and report writing skills. Toboggans are complete with steering and braking systems.
